Activities at the Festival

All Species Parade (10:30 am)

Dress up as your feature creature or other species. Follow the leader and the band on a walking parade through Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary and around the school grounds. End up in the cafeteria for a blessing of all creatures, and then get a goody bag and go on the scavenger hunt!

Art

ArtVan

Experience a nature mandala; play with nature materials creatively in a meditative environment. Feel free to take something home or leave it to nature for others to enjoy or add.

Bicycle Coalition of Maine Tune Up Clinic

Get a free safety check, simple tune up, and basic repairs done thanks to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.

Join an easy ride for all abilities to explore Brunswick.

Cycling Show and Tell

Talk to cyclists who use pedal power in the greater Brunswick area.

Nature Hikes (11:30 am - Choose Your Adventure)

Hike from the Festival to contemplate the Bowdoin Pines (for grown ups) or play in Mare Brook (for kids and the young at heart).

Electrification

Electric Vehicle Show and Tell

Check out the rides that electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts have to show, and find out what it’s like to drive on 100% recyclable electrons. Look in the frunk of a Ford F-150 Lightning for a special treat!

Wicked Wheelbarrow Race

Negotiate an obstacle course with a wheelbarrow in a test of speed and agility. To enter the qualifying time trials, volunteer in the school garden to spread a load of mulch. Fastest times in the qualifiers win a spot in the finals at 2:30 pm.

Make Pot / Rescue a Wildflower

Tour the school greenhouse in Harriet’s Haven. While you’re there, learn how to make a paper pot and rescue a wildflower to take home.

Volunteering

Mulch Spreading

Spread mulch for Harriet’s Haven, the school garden. Get a ticket to enter the time trials to qualify for the wheelbarrow race at 2:30!

Volunteer Board

Find volunteer opportunities and learn about local service organizations on the volunteer board.

Coastal Clean-up (Required Pre-Registration)

Volunteers who have registered in advance on the Mere Point Oyster co website will be cleaning up local beaches from noon to 2 pm. Site leaders will meet at the Festival in the morning. Come back to the Festival to share your stories and display your found treasures!
